The training was founded in 2012 by Jennifer Walker and Jacky Bloemraad-de Boer and.  Jennifer and Jacky were amongst the first doulas in the Netherlands and have been key players in shaping the doula community.  In 2015 Joyce Hoek-Pula joined the team as trainer and mentor.

Jennifer and Joyce are experienced doulas and trainers working all around the globe.

Jennifer Walker

Jennifer is a Childbirth International certified doula. She has her HBO diploma in Foundations of Western Medicine. She is one of the most experienced doulas in the country having attended hundreds of births since she began in 2006. Jennifer is currently the Chair of the NBvD (Dutch Doula Association).

She is a life long learner and has attended workshops with international teachers including: Angelina Martinez Miranda, Barbara Harper, Dr. Carol Phillips, Debra Pascali-Bonaro, Elizabeth Davis, Gail Tully, Heather Bruce, Ina May Gaskin, Penny Simkin, Robbie Davis-Floyd, Robin Lim, Dr. Sarah Buckley and Verena Schmid.

In 2015 she became one of six international Approved Spinning Babies Trainers. Jennifer travels extensively domestically and internationally to teach Spinning Babies Workshops, doula skills training and other birth related workshops and lectures. Jennifer’s teaching regularly includes in house trainings for hospital and birth centre teams.

Joyce Hoek-Pula

Joyce is a doula, yoga teacher and masseuse. She has extensive experience teaching pregnancy yoga, baby massage and aromatherapy for birth professionals. Joyce is on the Board of the Geboortebeweging and was on the organising committee for the Human Rights in ChildbirthConference in 2012.
