Postpartum Massage Training / Massage for Lossbirth, for Doulas, Midwives, Maternity Nurses, Pregnancy Yoga Teachers
Massage in the postpartum period can be very supportive for the new mother to reconnect to her body, integrate the birth experience, to give space for all of the -sometimes complex- emotions of becoming a parent as well as supporting the breastfeeding journey.
In this 3-day training we will cover the following:
- Lymphatic drainage via reflexology on the foot
- Massage of the legs, lower and upper back, shoulders, rocking in prone position
- Massage of the breasts, including acupressure point
- Hormonal balancing via foot reflexology
- Massage of the shoulders / upper back / neck / face / head in supine position
- Some background on meridians and extraordinary vessels (Shiatsu) and how to integrate this in your massage
- Lymphatic stroking of arms and legs
- Massaging the legs in supine position
- Massage of the belly, including how to massage when there is a c-section scar
- Checking for diastasis
- Massage when there is a loss birth (miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth), including accupressure points
- Visualisation
- Rocking / cradling
The 3-day training is accessible for those who have completed the 3-day Pregnancy Massage Training and who have build up some experiencing in giving (full body) massages. You can also participate if you have experience in massaging pregnant people and/or if you have massage experience and have good knowledge about pregnancy and birth (i.e. childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, kraamverzorgenden) If you do not meet these requirements, you can send an email to discuss.
The training is taught by Joyce Hoek-Pula and Marlies Phielix. Both are experienced doulas, masseuses, doula trainers and Spinning Babies® Parent Educators.
We work in small groups of a maximum of 12-14 participants with two trainers. This ensures that there is a lot of personal attention and space for hands on practice and questions. You will be practicing on each others; even though that is on bare skin, the one who’s being massaged is mostly covered during the full massage. Draping and covering is an important part to create safety, comfort and a feeling of being cared for.
