Pregnancy Massage Training for Doulas, Midwives, Maternity Nurses, Pregnancy Yoga Teachers
As a doula, midwife or maternity nurse, you may want to get more comfortable in giving (partial) massages to you clients, a foot massage, a neck massage. Or you’re already offering this, and you’d like to know how to give a full body relaxation massage. Touch can deepen the bond and the trust between you and your client (if your client enjoys being massaged!).
In this 3-day training you learn basic massage techniques, positioning and draping. You learn how to tune in and be intuitive in your touch in a way that feels safe for the pregnant mother. We cover the contra-indications, when not to massage. Partial massages include the lower legs & feet, the lower back, the belly, polarity, face and neck. Some of these can be very helpful in labour too.
We work in small groups of a maximum of 12-14 participants, so that there is a lot of personal attention and space for hands on practice and questions. You will be practicing on each others; even though that is on bare skin, the one who’s being massaged is mostly covered during the full massage. Draping and covering is an important part to create safety, comfort and a feeling of being cared for.
You do not necessarily need to have experience in massage, although some experience will be helpful.
The training is taught by Joyce Hoek-Pula, who has been a masseuse since 1998. Marlies Phielix assists in both the one on one support / teachingt as well as the organisation of the day.
The workshop has been accredited for 12 continuing education points by the NBvD.
There is a follow up training: Massage in the Postpartum Period and for Miscarriage. You can participate when you have completed the 3-day Pregnancy Massage Training and/or for if you have experience in massaging pregnant people and/or if you have massage experience and have good knowledge about pregnancy and birth (i.e. childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, kraamverzorgenden) If you do not meet these requirements, you can send an email to discuss.
We work in small groups of a maximum of 12-14 participants and we teach with two trainers, that assures a lot of personal one on one attention and space for hands on practice and questions.
