Vagal Nerve Response and Polarity
Vagus Nerve Response
When our ever-vigilant and overstimulated nervous system revs up the fight or flight responses — pouring the stress hormone cortisol and adrenaline into our body — the vagus nerve is what takes us back to calmness by releasing a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. The vagus nerve’s tendrils extend to many organs, acting like fiber-optic cables that send instructions to release enzymes and proteins like prolactin, vasopressin, and oxytocin, which calm us down. Our gut uses the vagus nerve like a walkie-talkie to tell our brain how we’re feeling via electric impulses called “action potentials” indicating either stress (fight flight) or calmness. Working with ways to “trigger” the vagus nerve helping ease the body into a more conducive state for labour to be initiated and for birth to be more efficient can be very helpful for women that are “stuck” in their fight flight response.
In this workshop:
- Understanding the Central Nervous System (CNS).
- Understanding the vagus nerve.
- Knowing when the vagal nerve needs stimulating.
- Simple techniques to stimulate the vagal nerve.
Polarity
Life energy must flow smoothly and uninterrupted through the body from pole to pole to maintain optimal health. When the ebb and flow of Life Energy becomes blocked or interrupted, the balance of life is disturbed and we see women going overdue and finding it hard to “shift” into labour or to establish an efficient labour pattern. Polarity works directly with this Life Energy, it taps into the inherent intelligence of the body, functioning with touch, intention and attention reestablishing that balance and the continuity of the free flow of Life Energy.
In this workshop:
- Understanding polarity.
- Various ways of giving a polarity session for women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth and
- postpartum for both mother and baby.
